Meg Whitman brags about being anti-AZ law....ONLY IN SPANISH TV ADS!
Edited on Fri Jun-18-10 12:49 PM by K8-EEE
LOL, hey Meg SAY IT IN AMERICAN so all the teabaggers can hear ya!! Also claims to have been "against prop 187" which was an anti-immigrant thing here in CA a few years back, but I don't know if there's anything to back that up.

Apparently the strategy is to be "tough on immigration" in the English ads and anti-discrimination in the Spanish ads. L-A-M-E.

4. I think "The Internets" make this kind of game a lot harder
than it was for the BushCo 2000 era...I really think that thing of "acting moderate" among the general public and rabid RW to select groups, ten years later, youtube has done a number to that very Rovian tactic!

3. She is counting on the stupidity of the teabagger crowd
The sad thing is....she pretty much CAN count on their stupidity! The elitist corporate interests are behind Meg so they will never bring this up in the insular world of FoxNews...

5. VERY tough talk on her website
She's FOR what SHE calls "comprehensive" reform--but "100% opposed to any form of amnesty".

Here are the highlights from her immigration issue-page (heavy on border enforcement, including use of NG):

Securing Our Border to Stop Illegal Immigration
Meg Whitman supports tough, common-sense immigration reform that will strengthen border security.

Meg is 100% opposed to any form of amnesty. As Governor, she will advocate for a comprehensive federal immigration solution that secures the borders.

Combat Illegal Immigration
Meg Supports Measures to Combat Illegal Immigration

As Governor, Meg Will:
<Topic headings only>

Secure the Border
Establish an Economic Fence Against Illegal Immigration
Eliminate Sanctuary Cities
Conduct Workplace Inspections of Suspected Businesses
Deploy the Resources of the National Guard
Ban the Admission of Undocumented Students to UC, CSU and California Community Colleges
Prohibit Driver's Licenses for Undocumented Immigrants
Enforce English Immersion
Sue the Federal Government to Recoup Prison Costs

11. You can underestimate voters only up to a point--and she just crossed it
The Brown campaign should distribute bi-lingual copies of this throughout the state and put money into TV and radio spots showing how two-faced Meg is with voters. Hispanic communities may be a priority target, but--as much garbage as people normally tolerate from pols--even non-Hispanics will have a negative reaction to such BLATANT dishonesty.

GO JERRY!

14. "I was against prop. 187. I wished it ill while I didn't vote on it."
Somehow I don't think she'll be saying that in an ad, in Spanish or any other language. But maybe Jerry Brown should say it in an ad.
