The Democratic Party would like to thank Rep. Barton for giving the GOP full ownership of the spill

In one 30-second ill-advised tirade, Representative Barton did what 1000 left-wing bloggers could never accomplish:

In the eyes of America, the GOP now owns the spill. It was BP... but Barton just fused "BP" and "GOP" into one entity in the eyes of the American voter.

Millions of dollars of PR effort could not have accomplished as much for the Democrats.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good in politics.

of OIL and the gNOp.

"Of the five Gulf Coast states, Mr. Barton’s Texas is the only one whose beaches, fisheries and tourist haunts are not threatened by oil spewing from BP’s ruined well. Republican lawmakers from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida quickly disavowed Mr. Barton’s apology to BP, and one was the first to call for stripping Mr. Barton of his committee seat."

Lucky with adversaries like the incompetent greedy republicons.

You're right, too bad he didn't throw his fit in October, that would have been optimal. ;)
