rethug clown of the moment. He apologized to bp because this admin was mean to them. {The Dems are besides themselves because he's redirected the conversation.}

I kid you not.

Hell, you don't even need to search!

7. Rep. Barton- R-TX. Today, in his opening remarks at the
hearing where BP CEO testified, Barton appologized to BP for what happened at the WH yesterday. He said it was strongarm tactics to demand BP deposit $20 Billion in that escrow fund, and he was ashamed of what the WH did.

14. I believe the word "shakedown" was used...
...plus you know what hay the teabaggers make about apologizing to foreigners.

The Republicans have plenty of experts on what pushes their base's hot buttons, and they smelled Barton as being on the wrong side of it. 1...2...3...overboard he goes!

16. Joe Barton (R-Tx) largest collector of oil/gas contributions in the House apologized to BP today
in the committee hearing

He called the $20 Billion escrow account a "shakedown" (later apologizing for that word when Boehner and the rest called HIM into a special meeting) which was the RW talking point all morning.

15. I think he was just supposed to be the first to say it.
I think it was to be the repuke frame, possibly until November. He was going to have a moment in the spotlight.

It backfired on him and the repukes called it off. The $20 billion has been hailed by damn near everyone as, finally, some action in this whole mess. People are cheering, people on the Gulf and in the rest of the country. Even BP was happy about the deal. The stockholders where happy.

It was a stupid angle to take, but the repukes would have picked it up and ran had it not been hammered by everyone.
