More than 2 million Americans will lose extra benefits by the week of July 10, according to the National Employment Law Project, an advocacy group for the unemployed.

Alarmed about the growing national debt, Republicans and some Democrats refused to support another extension unless the cost was reduced or "paid for" using stimulus money or cutting other spending.

"I want to have these benefits extended," said Sen. George LeMieux, R-Fla. "But this country is not going to be a first-rate power anymore or provide for our children and grandchildren if we continue spending the way we have."

He said he will oppose the extension legislation, including the scaled-back version, as long as it adds more deficit spending.

Sen. George LeMieux, R-Fla... "He will oppose the extension".

Translation: Unless, of course, He and his Repuke buddies can get their fingers in the pie and suck off a good portion of the benefits.. then he would approve.

What about the Gulf Fishermen and Hotels and Restaurant workers? It's all their fault....
