Red State update from the hair salon regarding Barton's apology to BP!
I had an appointment this afternoon for a hair cut. I've been going to this same guy for decades, and he leans strongly to the left. However, some of his clientele and the others who work there are typical "conservatives."

We were talking about the BP oil disaster, and a few others nearby participated as well. Then I asked if he'd heard what Barton said. He hadn't. So, I told him (and those listening) about the apology to BP, and how he called it a shakedown, and how he had big time donations from oil and gas, just like Inhofe.

Let me tell you all this: it did not set well with a single person in that salon. One woman's mouth fell open. Another said, "WHAT?!?!? When did this happen?" Everyone was outraged that any member of Congress would make such a foolish statement. One woman commented, "Well, BP has ruined the Gulf. My sister lives in Houston, and we used to go for a visit every summer. We always spent a day at Galveston. Before long, it will be ruined too."

Another woman said she was going to call Inhofe and complain, and I told her good luck that he was oil's favorite politician. She pursed her lips and said "Don't I know it, and I'm tired of it."

So...for what it's worth...from the soul of Red Oklahoma, Barton's apology is not setting well with Republicans. Not. At. All. :)

2. So, what are we betting the following happens within 24 hours?
1. Barton says he is "under stress", takes a leave of absence

2. Barton says he is "under stress", checks into short-term rehab

3. A huge donation finds its way into Barton's campaign coffers by a well-hidden entity having something to do with oil

Of course, I'm also banking on 4. The RW Wurlitzer is going to get cranked up to levels previously unknown.

5. They've already started saying since Obama shut down drilling it's his fault
those folks don't have jobs...and that this has put more people out of work than the consequences from the oil spill.

3. I do hope to OK turn blue in my lifeitime!
and I'm only 45 :) But I do have hope. I grew up in the Tulsa area and witnessed first hand the level of hate and bigotry.

Inhofe is showing his true colors more everyday, he's played his people fo rfools, and maybe they realize it now.. Getting Rush Limbugh off the air would help Oklahoma, I mean he is being pumped into OK like the oil is into the gulf, and he is just as caustic! Last I looked 8 stations ran his program in Oklahoma.

4. Tulsa is not as Red as it once was. Neither is OKC. It's the rural areas that are the biggest

problem, although there are surely lots of conservatives in the metro areas. As people move into the area, especially those who aren't from here, you find more and more who lean left. Still lots of Obama/Biden stickers around town. (And some "W" stickers, too. Those must have been the most expensive stickers ever, they seem to last and last... :puke: )

Tulsa had a woman Democrat for Mayor, and she did a great job with no money as the male Republican Mayor before her was an idiot and left the city almost bankrupt. She decided to not run again, and we have another male Republican who's an idiot with John Ritter's haircut from Three's Company. People are already unhappy with him, and there are already charges of wrongdoing in his office. (He's been in office since December 2009.) :eyes:

6. I have a lot of democrat family and friends in the Tulsa area
I'm glad to hear the cities are changing. It will take some time to reach the more rural areas where ignorance tends to run amock.

John Ritter haircut..that made me smile..I have to google him now...
