The "Escalation" meme is a red herring. Am I crazy or am I a Canary in a coal mine?

All of congress is a twitter, dems and repubs. "No escalation" they say which is in essence saying that it's ok to have 130,000 troops in Iraq, but don't send any more. They have moved the argument and the focus to the additional troops, thus avoiding the real issue which is to GET OUT. Please don't fall for this but demand that we pull the troops out now
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Bushco is blaming everything bad in Iraq in Iran. CNN tonight said that Iran is responsible for the Karbala attack. Also, Iran is now responsible for the weapons in Iraq. Iran is the boogie man.

Mark my words, George W. Bush wants more war and more death. He wants Iran.

Don't fall for the bs. Escalation is irrelevant. Stop them from bombing Iran and bring all the troops home now. I am I the only one who sees this coming?

The fact is that Bush has positioned this wonderfully (for himself, see below), and Pelosi doesn't want to upset the apple cart that she and other Democrats see forming as a clean sweep / grand slam / solid majorities with President in 2008....

What's Bush have to gain? HIS goal is to kick it down the field and wait it out until he's out, and then the right wing spin machine will blame whoever follows for having "lost" the war...

The "increase/don't increase" as you have observed, is a totally false argument. It's happening, and we're all stuck here watching it happen.

Divide and Conquer is not just for territorial gain, it works in governmental operations as well.

Note all the competing Senate resolutions popping up. Some will be pro-Bush too. And each will have to be debated, either in committee or on the floor. That takes time. In the meanwhile, there Iran.

Running out the clock is the strategy here folks. Remember one of the reasons why Saint Ronnie was never impeached over Iran-Contra was that it was so late in his term that its was thought better to take a "knee down" and wait until the 1988 presidential election.

Whether Bush goes to war with Iran or not is not important to this administration; It's the calender stupid.

It doesn't take away from the efforts to end the occupation which many of our legislators are working hard to accomplish. It's just not credible to lump them all together under some cynical plot to continue the occupation. It's just not true for the majority of our Democrats. They want the occupation ended as much as we do. I refuse to dehumanize these hard working folks and pretend as if they just don't care as much as we do. It's a crock.

Opposition to the escalation is NOT irrelevant as part of the overall effort to end the occupation. That's what the effort is about. It's Bush who is intent on continuing the occupation and escalating it to include Iran. It makes no sense at all to project his militarism onto those Democrats who are working to oppose it by highlighting and opposing his escalation.
