Rachel Maddow WILL Become President
Back in 2004 when an unknown African American named Barack Obama gave his 'red states - blue states' speech, I was watching in complete awe. After his speech was complete I immediately called my mother, who's the only other political junkie I know. She was a struck as I was. Who is this guy? So I began checking him out.

A few days later I called her back, "Mom, that Barack guy... he's our next President" She basically said wouldn't that be nice but no way. Maybe way down the line, perhaps. I kept telling people that and everyone thought I was crazy. Their reasons for schepticism made absolute sense but I just had this feeling.

If only I could have played those odds in Vegas.

Note: I'm not perfect. Early in primaries I predicted he'd pick Wesley Clark for VP

Well, I just have this feeling again, and this time I'm documenting it as proof of my prediction.

#### President Rachel Anne Maddow ####

I know I know... the county would not only have to elect a woman, but a lesbian woman at that.

My soft prediction for a term, 2020

1. That would be great, but she's way too honest to get much support.

2. She would be an excellent president
But I don't think it will happen

1. she is not willing to compromise her beliefs
2. she doesn't have the arrogance required of politicians
3. low threshold for bullshit

but hey, here's hoping. She would be awesome.

3. Let's make a bet!
If I'm right you have to donate $100 to the American Red Cross. If I'm wrong I have to jump out of an airplane, payable retroactively. :)

I agree, but wouldn't it be great? She might be the one who could get this country back on track.

4. Fish Swim, Birds Fly...
Rachel is an excelent journalist, not a politician. She serves this country best as being able to cover the news of the day as well as special stories that have value in this world where information is the keys to the kingdom. It'd be a shame to waste such talent having to pander for campaign cash and endless rotary chicken dinners. I see many emerging stars on the Democratic side...who know the politics game...let's try to cultivate them along.

5. I'll vote for her too
That was some of the best speech I've ever seen in my 62 plus years. Wow is all I can say. She's been much watch TV since day one but now her show is to die for if you get my drift. A beautiful person inside that pretty lesbian girl right there. I love her.

7. So what would be her route to that office?
She lives in Massachusetts, would she attempt to be a governor or US senator from that state? Or do you advocate that she just run directly for the Presidential nomination as an entry-level political job?

11. Alan Grayson has already been declared a future President
And it's amazing how you can be trashed for defending the elected Democratic President as a cheerleader or hero worshipper by the same people who worship teevee pundits!

10. Geez, Palin is more qualified
she was at least elected governor of a state, even if she only served half a term, she did do that.

Man I cannot believe the worship of these comedians/entertainers! It's hilarious. Maybe she can run against Rush Limbaugh. In that case and only in that case I hope she wins.

16. Not even close
What constitutes a "qualification" is a matter of opinion.

For me it's:

- Having a solid, comprehensive understanding of how our government functions.
- Being able to read and understand legislation and legal documents fluently, and assess their impacts at the national, state and local levels.
- Having a strong grasp of our goverment agencies and how they function with each other and within the government.
- Having a strong enough grasp of macro economics and our country's financial system to be able to speak intelligently with advisors
- Having a strong and diverse knowledge base of global affairs.
- Being a person who is highly intelligent, articulate, persuasive and able to formulate creative ideas.

Based on my criteria compare Sarah Palin to Rachel Maddow. Let me know when you're done laughing.

18. And being able to be elected to the office
Edited on Thu Jun-17-10 08:36 AM by treestar
Which requires skills comedians don't have.

Palin may be an idiot, but she did manage to win a couple of elections.

The only comedian who has been elected to office that I know of is Sonny Bono. He must have had the right constituency. But he could never have been President. And to get elected, he had to use different skills, and must have developed them to a point. He had also been nationally known and had name recognition.

20. You forget Senator Al Frankin but that is beside the point
Maddow isn't just a comedian, not sure if she is even that, she is a very smart and talented political commentator. A good comedian sees the world in many ways most people don't and has a way of making people see a part if not all of what they see and getting a laugh instead of inducing people to off themselves with how screwed up the world and people are.

15. With a heavy heart I say: keep dreamin'.
She'd be great, but she's not mainstream enough to capture the office. We've only just recently deviated from our 200 year tradition of electing straight middle-aged christian white guys to elect a straight, middle-aged, christian black guy.

17. Childish and ridiculous
Maddow has demonstrated exactly zero interest in running for office. Hero worship leads to silliness.

21. Childish?
Childish is getting your panties in a bunch and making rude remarks over a fairly benign thread.

I simply made an unconventional prediction that Maddow will run for the Presidency and win in 10+ years. In 2004 I received many similar reactions when I Predicted Obama would be the next President. Can I be wrong? Of course. But making a prediction is neither childish, nor is it hero warship.

foolishness.

I love Rachel, but come back to the real world. She doesn't even care to run for any office.

Its amazing how people are so amazed by TV personalities. It really explains why so much of our culture is trivial.

25. She has more guts, integrity and honesty than anyone in office now.
I'd vote for her. She has character and she is refreshingly honest. She had everything to be president, except the part about having to sell herself out to get the huge amounts of money to win.
