I am still (and I admit I may fail) wrapping my head around just how big a problem this is.

Reading the reports of the fucking sea life crowding up against the shore in a desperate bid to stay away from the toxic sludge, toxic dispersant, and in a futile attempt to just...breathe...hit me hard in the gut and I'm not even sure I want to try getting up yet because it's just going to get worse.

2. It has been largely a 'theoretical' catastrophe, or

one that we watch knowing it is going to bad, but only when the images hit us does it become real.

I cannot get my mind around the scope. I haven't been able to for over a month. Yet in that month it kept going and multiplying. And will for months on end.

If the leaking ever stops, it will still be years (maybe decades) before we realize the extensiveness of this disaster.
