1. I'm sure they have contingency comment lists...
If he says this, we say that... if he says A is good we say B is good... if he says B is good, we say A is good.

It's been that way since day one.

3. Well, that kind of is their job. We would do the same thing to Bush.
It's called: Politics.

5. As much as I hated it...
We did give Bush his due when he did a few good things... aid to Africa, for one, off the top of my head.

It was the right thing to do. The difference with Obama: he will catch shit no matter what he does.

12. The question would be have Republicans lowered the bar to such a low point from now on?
Will both parties simply stonewall the party in power? Because if what the Republicans do does work, then how can you argue with success, and why would any politician want to do anything except what succeeds and helps them to get reelected.

17. We All Rallied Around Bush After 9/11.........
I see this gusher in the Gulf as more an equivalent to 9/11 than I do Katrina.

This is a man-made disaster of epic proportions. The destruction it could bring to the environment and the people of the Gulf may be more devastating than the 9/11 attack. Don't get me wrong - I don't want to minimize that fact that 3000 people died that day - but - just like Bush declared a war on terror - we need to declare a war on the capping and clean-up of this gusher in the Gulf. And just like the Dems and the whole country got behind Bush right after 9/11 - the Repugs and the country need to rally around Obama on this disaster.

4. he needs to emphasize who Cheney exactly was the cause of this problem
I think if it is spelled out to the nation then they will understand the problem. There is nothing gained from keeping the nation in the dark. Leadership is "this is how it is baby" and then give a hort history followed by a new ara for alternative energy. People actually like the idea of alternative energy. If I was president I would have government announcements every day on TV on alternative energy just before big shows like American Idol etc.

13. Oh, good lord.
Preemptive slam? Sounds a lot like what we accuse Faux of doing. No wonder this board is so divided these days.

20. The problem is too many can't see the difference.
An honest disagreement or criticism of policy is taken by many as a personal attack on the President.

Many then react as if it is an on them personally, and react with attacks on the messenger.

He and Congressional Dems must be lined up to take apart anything the Rethugs try to do.

Hah, that'll be the day!

19. I Don't Know Why The Dems Haven't Made A Bigger Issue Of The Repugs Stonewalling On......
lifting the liability cap and making it unlimited. Seems to me that the American People would easily understand that the Repugs are stonewalling that and the American People would not stand for that. An initiative to make the Repugs look like the skunks they are on this should have been going on right from the start of this disaster. Remember the best defense is a good offense - and the Dems just don't know how to initiate a good offense yet.

18. Anyone worth their salt should be able to argue both sides
of whatever he talks about. I thought that was a given.

What's funny about the right wing is that they can reframe whatever he says, no matter how remotely, and their base will go for it.
