So I sat in on sessions of both houses of Congress today....
....as part of my first visit to Washington, D.C.

In the House, I heard Bobby Rush (D-IL) and Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) speak, as well as Tom Petri (R-WI) speak. They were speaking about a resolution regarding Urban Prep Academies, a nonprofit network of all-boys schools that mainly serves African-Americans. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_Prep_Academies

In the Senate, I heard Jeff Sessions of Alabama speak about the Gulf catastrophe. Surprisingly, he didn't say much particularly stupid, except that he defended offshore drilling. He also kinda gave President Obama a backhanded compliment, saying that he appreciated the President coming down to the Gulf, but that the President was not connecting to the people "on the ground" enough.

Anyone else here seen Congress in session?

5. Back in the 50's before the assassination attempt of the representatives
we visited there several times. With my son's class and as a family. You could sit right up in the front row and listen to everything. It was very interesting. After the assassination attempts they closed that all down.
