Yes - of course I hope we are thrilled by a Gore surprise in the Fall! Yet no longer do I hold my breath waiting for that announcement...

Otherwise, any idea who Al may chose to endorse for our DEM Presidential nominee?

2. That one of the reason people think he will run
Once he endorses anybody, it is 100% that he is out of the race.

IMHO, I wish he would just get the eondorsing over with.. IMHO he is not running...

3. I think he'll be diplomatic

....he'll endorse who we pick to be our candidate and he won't endorse anyone until the primaries are over.

Cheers

7. Though being less diplomatic...
Would earn a candidate lots of mileage if Al made an endorsement before the primaries; in particular if that candidate was NOT Hillary.

I say if Al is not going to run, why not be a little less conventional and endorse someone? He no longer has to answer to the beltway.

4. I'm guessing Obama.
I've heard there's some bad blood between him and the Clinton's. Don't know if it's true. Even if he's not, I'm guessing he'll still endorse Obama.

11. Indeed, it seems he hasn't gotten along with the Clintons for a while
he wanted to distance himself from Bill during the 2000 election, and I think that hurt Bill. I think there was some bad blood over that situation.

That being said, I think they are somewhat friendly. Donna Brazile was speaking at my school a few weeks ago (she's a prof here) and said that she was going to have dinner with Gore that evening, and that Hillary was going to be there to. I don't know any other details - it may have been a large dinner party. It was the week he came to testify on Capitol Hill, I think.

8. Yeah.
It would be weird if he didn't endorse the guy he picked to be his own running mate...wouldn't expect him to endorse Hillary.

13. Leiberman?
Kerry ran with Edwards.

I don't think that Kerry will necessarily endorse him though. The criteria for VP was not who other than himself did he think would be a good President. Ignoring their pluses adn minuses, there are reasons he wouldn't have picked some of them:

Dodd and Clinton - both Northeastern as is Kerry

Biden - expertise in foreign policy is redundant with Kerry's.

Obama - no national experience at that time.

Remember he liked Obama enough to give him the keynote speech.

What would be cool is if Gore and Kerry decide on the same person.

12. It would be highly irresponsible for a party chairman to endorse a candidate in the primary
So I can't imagine he will be doing so.

22. Sure like your confidence!
I fully agree TomClash, Al IS the most qualified! Though my confidence that he will run is slowly fading --- as the big machine it takes to run for President has shown no signs of officially stirring yet.

I do think Gore could come in as late as Fall, and hit a home run in the 9th inning to win the nomination. He would blow all the contenders out of the water!

What gives you such optimism?

17. I think Kucinich is the most reliable and like-minded in regard to environmental philosophy
I don't fully trust that any one else would fight as hard as Kucinich would. Kucinich would step on some toes, which is necessary at this point in time.

All other candidates might play a little too much ball with polluters, etc,.

If he endorses anyone at all, I think it would be Kucinich.
