Why would you want republicans voting in the democratic primary?
-Why look at diebold in S.C? Just look at the voters. Republicans are allowed to vote in the democratic party primary.
Why hack machines when you can just vote for the least electable candidate?
Why break the law when you can legally steal the election?
Why would you want republicans voting in the democratic primary?

2. It's an open primary, meaning
anyone can vote for anybody. Doesn't matter how you're registered.

3. I think the OP's point is that open primaries are a bad idea, because of stuff like this (SC).

5. right
since there is no republican primary, republicans voted for the weaker democrat. What benefit is there to an "open" primary?

4. Well, if you're in a backwards ass state where you don't even want Democrats to be actual DEMOCRATS
then it qualifies as "political strategy" I guess.

6. Every four years, that's how we NH residents pick your President.
While our primary isn't exactly "open", we allow "undeclared"
voters to take whichever party's ballot they wish, so the Democratic
Primary is always full of Republican assholes monkey-wrenching.
A huge number of our "undeclared" voters are obviously Republicans
and Libertarians.

7. yup.yup..
I prefer to have the party primary determined by party voters.
Why register in a party in NH if being undeclared holds more value?

8. The only advantage of registering with a party is that you can attend the party's convention.
Otherwise, all the advantages are with the undeclareds.

9. exactly
here in NYS you need to be in a party (or be a JD / notary) to carry nominating petitions. You need to be in the party to vote in the primary.

11. good question
I see that the SC State Chair has asked the senate candidate to step down. A question to the Chairperson - why do you let the GOP choose your candidates?

18. It's a pretty rare year that, one way or another, we don't pick your President.
(I'm not saying that's a good thing, BTW. The NH Primary
always screws my candidate.)

16. I think that a political party should have a closed primary
let the party members decide who will represent the party..

13. Because it is much cheaper to steal an election than get out Republican vote
Look, at primary time you can't even get Republicans out to vote for Republicans, they sure as hell won't be coming out in droves to vote for Democrats, even ones they detest.

15. Republicans would know that THEIR candidate would win the
republican nomination. So most of them would cross over and vote for the Democratic candidate that is least likely to win against the republican. Thats why they want open primaries. Like they just voted on in California.
