Hello, I'm Mr. "X", computer hacker. I paid Mr. Greene to enter the election process
and then I hacked the system to make him win. I did this to bring attention to our faulty election system. I hope that something will be done to correct the situation. That is all.

Could this be what happened?

4. I'm VERY skeptical of a scenario like this,
although I will say that the whole thing strikes me as over the top transparent.

I think it comes down to overconfidence/stupidity on the part of whoever was behind this (assuming that there was something nefarious going on, which seems likely).

The discrepancy in the absentee ballots, which are paper, would seem to rule out the idea that it was strictly computer fraud. It seems unlikely that a lone hacker could somehow screw with absentee ballots.

8. 'the discrepancy' is that the vote on paper was so very different than
the vote by machine.

9. You're right. I misheard the Olberman video.
I thought he said that Greene won over 80% of the absentee ballots. Actually he said just the opposite.

6. Hey Kevin Poulsen won a Porsche by hacking a radio station call-in
You can't tell me the voting machines are any more secure than that
