Jail Just One

Here's an idea: arrest.

The very next time one BP employee tells the EPA where to apply its dispersant regs, or tells the Coast Guard who's allowed to witness onshore operations, or refuses to allow independent scientists to analyze the flow from the oil hell. . .

Bust 'em.

Just one will be required, though the lesson would be most effective if the perp were a comfortably suited and air-conditioned upper management type. I wouldn't want to see a guy who actually gets on the boots and Tyvek have to pay for the sins of the company.

But allowing these instances of arrogance and contempt to pile up is weakening not only the command structure of the Coast Guard but the administration as a whole. BP is teaching the world by example that governments, even the supposedly most powerful government on the planet, are nothing more than sidekicks, bumbling comic relief characters.

1. If we tar and feather one of them
be sure to use dispersants on the tar for quick clean up.

2. You made me laugh..
That's about as likely to happen as a snake making proper use of a pogo stick.

The corporations *own* the government.

4. Dream On.
The Obama administration does not seek to jail liars and miscreants from the Bush years, including war criminals.

The Obama administration does not seek to jail liars and thieves and robbers from the mega-banks.

The Obama administration certainly will not seek to jail major campaign contributors from the petroleum industry.

7. No one with integrity would sit idly by while people's lives were being destroyed
I worked for a year, hard work, to get candidate Obama elected. I was one of his delegates. I feel betrayed. I thought I worked my ass off to get someone with courage into the White House but what we got was someone who is not much more than Bush lite. It's sad because he could have been a hero to most of the American people. Obama is describing everything as difficult when anyone with a creative bone in their bodies could have made positve change. But it looks like he is one of BPs empolyees rather than a president of the people. There is still time for him to begin to act like a leader but for every time he gives into the enemy it is destroying any chance we will ever see positive change to overcome all the injustices in our once great country. There isn't a doubt in my mind I could have done 100 times better and I wouldn't have taken any shit off of anyone. And I certainly wouldn't have let ignorant, illiterate tea baggers seaize the national dialogue on health care reform while sitting on my hands.

It's sad...

8. Kos nails the probable answer
'Okay. Or what, Mr. President?

Another stern letter? A glare at a press conference?'

yeah -- more speechifyin' and BP does what it damn well pleases. Another day, another 25 thousand barrels of oil pumped into the seawater.

Mission Accomplished. :sarcasm:
