1. The reason I am not in favor of boycotting BP is that I was always under the

impression that BP and Hess were the only two companies that do not sell Saudi oil, or sell very little of it.

12. I think Hess would be a good choice if you have them where you are...
I recall when we had "buy blue" web sites that they were rated amongst the best (which wasn't saying a lot) in their company's political contributions. Just would like to think they aren't buying too much of that from BP then.

Perhaps if that's the case, we could use their more liberal politics as a leveraging point to pressure them to not buy from BP too.

Personally, when I don't have Hess stations here, and 7/Eleven no longer sells Citgo gas, I make a point of getting gas from Costco now. No telling where they buy their gas, but its still relatively cheap, and at lest the company itself as a retailer treats their workers far better than others do.

6. BP may look bad now but the others are worse - BP did/does support democrats
right or wrong - the others support republicans - BP does give money back to citizens in Alaska and Canada for the drilling rights. - California had that opportunity with oil companies but voted it down because of the propaganda paid for by the industry

9. Remember : BEFORE the rig blow up, BP was scheduled to honored
officially, as Oil Company with best safety record.

I hate to admit it but those who say a bankrupt BP is
no help to us--just may be correct.

With all the horror of the "spill", we still need their
money to try to set things right.

BP does not do that much retail. They got out of the service
station business years back.

Yes, they must be held accountable. We need a BP with money
to hold accountable.

11. the irony of that safety record award
was that they had the *worst* safety record, along with many hundreds of safety violations on record.

Leaves one to wonder if maybe they *bought* that safety award, what with all their donations to democrats. Cause they sure and hell didn't earn it. :grr: :grr: :grr:
