'Double Dutch' should be an Olympic sport!
Don't know exactly where that came from. My mind obviously makes scary and interesting jumps.

I think it's because of the World Cup and the Women's NCAA Fast Pitch softball finals. They took fast pitch out of the Olympics. It isn't as widespread as it needs to be, but there is true competition. Japan has great teams and pro leagues. A lot of the best fast pitch players live there and make a decent living. Michelle Smith, a a Gold Medal lefty, pitched there for 14 years. Ask some Major leaguers who have tried to hit their pitching how it was. Wade Boggs was the only one who managed to get a real hit off of Smith.

A lot of the players travel around the world and hold clinics in other countries. It may be back in 2016. A lot of people believe that it was taken out because of Olympic politics to get back at the US. Believe me they do have a lot of politics and corruption in their governing committees.

I'm jumping again. Back to Double Dutch. It is just as athletic and demanding as rhythmic gymnastics. I tried it one time and ended up looking like I had been attacked by ropes during recess. It is now in a lot of countries. I am more than amazed when I watch them.

Meanwhile back at the Gusher..................

2. Technically and athletically demanding and joyful all at once.
I could not agree with you more.

3. So should cheer, but they do have a point about a sport needing to be widespread. There are so many
deserving ones that should be included, but they just can't accommodate them all, so I guess it makes sense that a sport needs to be practiced all over the place to qualify.

(Japan's not only great at fast pitch, they rock at cheer too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXj_PsuR1-k )
