Saudi Arabia gives Israel clear skies to attack Iranian nuclear sites

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.

“The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way,” said a US defence source in the area. “They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren’t scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the State Department.”

18. A nuclear Iran would be a check against US and Israeli aggression

in the region. We wouldn't have invaded Iraq if they actually had nukes. War would be less likely if we knew that Iran had nukes. Mutually Assured Destruction would make nuclear powers (like Israel and the US) less likely go to war with other nuclear powers.

This is all working from the current reality. The safest situation would be no nukes anywhere, but that is not practical, at least not in the foreseeable future.

They have no problem inflicting pain on their own people to maintain their power. They abstain from overt actions on the world community for the same reason. I guarantee you that they do not want to see Tehran bombed or enter a war with Israel/US. MAD works just the same for Iran as it did for Russia. Self preservation is a hallmark of authoritarians. They will feel more secure when they have nukes. And, the region will be more secure if they feel more secure.

17. Hello? Premptive war, in my humble opinion, is both illegal and immoral.

A country doesn't have the right to commit a crime - by bombing - what it doesn't like, or what may hurt it in the future.

You don't have the right to go kill your neighbor because he has a shotgun, and may get mad at you one day, and kill you with it. He has to be coming at you intending to use deadly force in order for you to use deadly force.

I'm addressing this to people who are worried about Iran's nukes, which, by the way, experts deny exist, stating that it will take years for Iran to develop anything dangerous, if ever.
