Do you want to know who is connected to the Macondo oilfield and the Deepwater Horizon well?

This is only the first screen of an interactive map at the above site. There are detailed instructions on both sides of this map.

By putting a group in the middle, you can expand it and see who has a connection. It also tells you the basic type of connection. In addition, if you right click on each box, you will find more detailed info about each group.
All I can say is gah!

9. Also affiliated with Anadarko- former Senator Don Nickels (Oklahoma).
Before he became a U.S. Senator he was a janitor. Guess he came a long way. He is a total rightwing a-hole.

8. Here's an interesting article connecting them from the Houston Chronicle:
BP will likely survive spill, but worth much less
By CHRIS KAHN
© 2010 The Associated Press
June 1, 2010, 7:55PM

NEW YORK — BP is probably sturdy enough to survive the worst oil spill in U.S. history. But investors are shaving billions of dollars off its value with every day that crude gushes into the Gulf of Mexico.

On Tuesday alone, the first trading day since BP's latest attempt at a fix failed, and the day the government announced it had opened a criminal probe into the disaster, its stock took a hit of 15 percent.

The British oil giant is worth $75 billion less on the open market than it was when the Deepwater Horizon rig exploded six weeks ago. Other companies involved in the spill — Transocean, Halliburton and Cameron — have all lost at least 30 percent in value.

-snip

Based on federal law, BP and partners Anadarko Petroleum and Mitsui & Co. also face a minimum fine of $1,000 per barrel of oil spilled, said Eric Schaeffer, who led the Environmental Protection Agency's enforcement office from 1997 to 2002. Schaeffer is now the director of the Environmental Integrity Project.

23. So Cheney helped talk everyone out of requiring the purchase

and installation of a $500,000 blow-out preventer claiming it was too much of a financial "burden" on oil companies.

Because everybody listened to guys like Cheney, BP lost $75 billion in value?

That's just insanity there. They're stupid crazy even with their own money. Gamblers. Addicted to risk.

Who the hell would risk $75 billion just so they don't have to shell out $500,000?

This blatant irresponsibility and idiocy, added to the eleven homicides for which they're responsible , and the untold horror being experienced by the people, plants and creatures of the Gulf, solidifies my opinion that these people are sick, twisted sociopaths who shouldn't be allowed to mingle with the general public.

11. Very interesting (and infuriating) map.
This OP is a must to bookmark for future reference and detailed study.

It reminds me of the way that you used to see the tentacles of organized crime depicted.

I wonder if that means............ nah, couldn't be... corporations are always open and honest about their operations.

Not that I need to, but :sarcasm:

As usual, you do manage to find some great information for us! Thanks!

13. From BP p.l.c. I get ...
Edited on Fri Jun-11-10 02:45 PM by SidDithers
Hilary Rosen, who was hired to handle communications for BP after the spill

Now, Hillary Rosen was also a co-founder of Rock the Vote.

Also involved with Rock the Vote, as an advocate, was actress Brittany Murphy.

Brittany Murphy was in Clueless with Alicia Silverstone.

Alicia Silverstone was in Beauty Shop with Kevin Bacon.

It always comes back to Kevin Bacon.

17. Purple Strategies is providing PR services for BP...
and Purple Strategies co-founder, Alex Castellanos is a frequent guest on CNN.

Of course, CNN was founded by Ted Turner, who was married to Jane Fonda.

Jane Fonda was in Monster In Law with Jennifer Lopez.

Jennifer Lopez was in U-Turn with Sean Penn.

Sean Penn was in Mystic River with Kevin Bacon.

Where does it stop?

there are ties to the MPAA and Jack Valenti in there. They'd be easy to work through.
