Martin Luther King Jr.'s thinking evolved over time
Edited on Fri Jun-11-10 01:15 PM by CreekDog
Based on the little I know, his desire for positive change pushed him to further progressive ideals and activities later in his life.

Pushing for civil rights sometime later spilled into pushing for human dignity in terms of poverty.

It also made him increasingly at odds with the military establishment and he openly criticized it.

I imagine people that once considered themselves his allies in the establishment, then began to wonder if he was the enemy.

If you intend to be the kind of person who lives his/her values and pushes for positive change, your life will necessarily push to you do things to make society better. Upon achievement of some goals, that kind of moral living will necessarily push you to do still more of the undone.

We must always be pushing the boundaries towards justice, no matter whom that puts us in conflict with.

2. His assassination "just happened" to occur when he shifted from racial boundaries to economic ones
...on the eve of the "poor people's march on Washington" he was slated to lead...

6. and RFK was assassinated when his message and understanding got to a similar place
When leaders start putting it altogether in a way that ceases to divide people, they become a real threat. A threat to make the world a far better place. :D

7. yet he also opposed communism
it is not ironic that he allowed himself the freedom to come up with new ways of thinking by not contraining himself to loyalties that prevented doing so.

8. He began to realize that addressing inequality, was not just a race issue, but a class...
...issue. Then he was shot.
