Contessa football terms are not rocket science
It's a freaking draw not a tie. 1-1 is a fugging draw.

1. There's nothing wrong with calling a draw a tie.
American English is different from (or should I say "different to" ;) ) UK English.

5. I prefer draw as well,
but that's just terminology. It affects nothing to call it a tie, as we would call any other sporting result a tie here. There was a pretty good NPR piece on American soccer fans feeling obligated to ape England's football terms the other day.

not British English v American English. 1-1 is a draw.

as they invented the term.

Nobody gets bothered when Aussies call it soccer.

24. You've got to be much tougher playing REAL football than the Americna version
The armor takes the brunt of the hit in the American sport.

there is no armor for REAL football players.

29. Say that to an NFL player.
And look at the difference in the game, tactics and size of players.

If Rugby boys played the same way as Americans do, they would be weeping for padding.

10. Aw jeez, it's not even a real sport
The good lord gave us two hands for a reason, and that bunch of swan-diving, shin-grabbing mama's boys need to get into something that allows them to use theirs. Even the most famous hit in soccer history was one player head-butting the other. You think Juan Marichal would have settled for head-butting Johnny Roseboro? Not on your nelly. He grabbed a bat and started swinging, by golly. Now there's a real sport!

The game ended in a tie. Probably a bow tie. With a floral pattern, if you know what I mean.

The entire world minus 300 or so million think it's the greatest sport on the planet and there are at least 20 million football fans in the US.
We're just thankful that we have our own feeds.

Why don't you call it handball if you need to use hands.

28. There are already two kinds of handball.
The US version is racketball without rackets, and the Euro version is water polo on dry land. And then there's the slang meaning, but we're probably all better off not venturing into that territory.
