They call it bullying -- I call this assault
After reading this article and the details of what they call "bullying", I have a few questions.

Why is bullying not taken more seriously?
What I read in this article goes beyond bullying to physical and sexual ASSAULT. The ringleader shouldn't have been allowed to transfer to another school, he should be in juvie and under psychological counseling.
What kind of parenting results in little darlings such as these?

Suit: Milford player bullied repeatedly
By Barrett J. Brunsman • bbrunsman@enquirer.com • June 10, 2010

BATAVIA - A former basketball player at Milford High School constantly bullied and sexually harassed teammates, and their coach allegedly did nothing to stop it, according to court records re-filed Thursday as part of a lawsuit.

Lawyers for the high school in Miami Township and the former coach of the freshman boys' basketball team tried to keep the depositions of the bully and one of his victims secret, but a Clermont County judge ordered Monday they be re-filed as public records after The Enquirer filed a motion to intervene in the case.

"The hazing and bullying incidents alleged in this case occurred during the 2007-08 school year, which was plagued by violence and abuse at Milford High School," according to attorney Joe Braun, who is representing a boy who quit the team in 2008 after being attacked by three players, one of whom tried to force sexual contact.

The coach, whom the victim said was a strict disciplinarian, didn't see that assault....

(Details of the scope of the bullying are in the article.)

1. Bullies beget Bullies...
and in some cases the "bullied" beget bullies.... It is a tragic pattern that has to be broken. Good on the Cincinnati Enquirer for pushing the issue and making this public.

2. I can't get the article to come up properly.
But from the glimpses I see, they refer to assault as hazing. I think they do a disservice to the victims by trying to smooth over the truth with a cutsey word like that.
