ABC News "Chamber President Says His Group Will Find Way to Get Gov. to Share Cost of Gulf Clean-Up"
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce opposed Obama's health care reform bill, financial reform, climate change, and now they are demanding that taxpayers foot the bill for the clean up of the gulf coast:

The head of the United States Chamber of Commerce said Friday that his group is not yet lobbying against legislative efforts to raise BP’s liability cap, viewing the issue as not yet "ripe."

He signaled, however, that his group would figure out a way to get the government to share in the cost of cleaning up the Gulf Coast.

“It is generally not the practice of this country to change the laws after the game,” said Tom Donohue, the president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “. . . Everybody is going to contribute to this clean up. We are all going to have to do it. We are going to have to get the money from the government and from the companies and we will figure out a way to do that.”

Donohue made his remarks during a roundtable with reporters sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor in Washington, D.C.

1. Will they have to spend $10 million of their members' money to get it done?
Magic 8 Ball says, "No."

Surprising, huh?

3. Tom Donohue is a freakin' igit if he thinks USA taxpayers are
going to help pay for BP's OIL SPILL.

The Chamber of Commerce is a joke and this cements it.

11. It's time they took the US out of their name.
They are clearly not on the side of the United States if they would side with British Petroleum in this disaster.

6. Then let the chamber come up with the money

They have all kinds of companies so that should not be a problem.
You want to do business here, pull out your wallets. These companies think the
US government is their banker and can just take money whenever they want.

7. Funny, there were no laws on the books mandating a Wall Street bailout
Edited on Thu Jun-10-10 11:36 PM by brentspeak
and yet the Chamber of Commerce http://www.uschamber.com/issues/letters/2009/091116tarp.htm">was the biggest cheerleader for the implementation of TARP. Tom Donohue had no qualms at all about "changing the rules in the middle of the game" when it came time to bail out his Wall Street masters.

With apologies to scum, Donohue and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are scum.

8. BP & Halliburton didn't want to spend any money on safeguards.

So fuggem. If they go belly up that's just the risk of doing
business. They ought to understand that part of it.
