are we damned if we do and damned if we don't?
A lot of people like my dad, a republican turned independent who voted for Obama in 2008, says that he wishes Obama would be more tough. On the other hand, I think that if he acts tough then a lot of people will accuse him of being divisive.

1. One thing for sure - Whatever Obama does the righties will cry it is wrong
Boehner and Beck will literally cry.
I think the best example of this is the oil creeping onto the ground of the 5 gulf states with Republican governors.
The same guys that a year ago cried about big gummint, big gummint. Now that they have a problem - where's the gummint? where's the gummint. We need money.
And in both cases Obama was wrong- gummint's too big , gummint's to small.

No matter what the issue whatever Obama does is wrong. We essentially passed a republican health care bill - which they are still crying about.
They tore the guts out of the stimulus and Obama gave in to their demands for tax cuts and then blamed Obama for not enough cuts.
I agree with your dad - Obama needs to toughen up and learn to negotiate.

2. Of course we are. The game is rigged.

It's nothing more than a hoax. Anyone who makes it into the presidency is hopelessly compromised.

Who is Obama going to get tough with? The corporations he represents? Not likely.

I think there's something shiny over there though. Oh look...it's a new sit-com. Oh goody!
