Obama urged to tone down "anti-British, prejudiced" attacks on BP
Uh, no.

And "attacks"? Please.

=====

A senior City figure has waded into the row over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, urging Barack Obama to tone down his attacks on BP.

In a letter to the US President, Royal Sun Alliance chairman John Napier said criticism of the company lacked "balance" and was "unstatesmanlike".

"Please forgive this open letter but your comments towards BP and its CEO (Tony Hayward) as reported here are coming across as somewhat prejudicial and personal," the head of the insurance giant wrote.

"There is no doubt that BP, as a UK PLC, is totally committed to do everything possible to contain the oil leak and meet all its obligations in the USA."

Mr Napier went on: "There is a sense here that these attacks are being made because BP is British.

2. "There is a sense here that these attacks are being made because BP is British."
Are they joking?

"He ends the missive: "We can all agree that the first and absolute priority is to stem the leak. Perhaps the second one is to ensure the reputation of the Presidency outside the USA is seen as objective, balanced, able and capable of taking the heat when under pressure."

Dear BP, fuck you!

5. Screw him. When he quits lying about BP
"There is no doubt that BP, as a UK PLC, is totally committed to do everything possible to contain the oil leak and meet all its obligations in the USA."

Then I MIGHT believe anything he has to say.

10. This "anti-British" meme they're trying to push is fucking ridiculous.

Americans like the Brits more than they like themselves. Every time a script calls for a smart, civilized person, they give him a British accent.

Seriously, this is the lamest "race card," so to speak, I've ever seen played.

I just thank god it wasn't "Israeli Petroleum," or the press would be bending over backwards to avoid criticizing them.

13. I think this is what is called a straw-man. BP is not Britain or the British
people. That we are angry with a company that has destroyed the Gulf is one thing, being mad at Britain is another. I am sorry that stockholders in Britain are going to loose their pensions but everyone knows that the stock market is a gamble - they lost. The fishermen and others down in the Gulf who have lost their jobs and businesses were not gambling - they were sabotaged.
