31. The problem with open primaries

Keith just said there was a man standing with that guy identified as his lawyer, was standing just off camera, giving him the "no comment" answers, I presume.

Open primaries can be $ money savers for states, but have some problems...one of which you have just seen. Anyone can pay to put someone up to run against the opposition, splitting the vote among the opposition candidates. In this case, knowing that DeMint would win his primary easily, many GOPers just went and voted for this poor dupe.

Louisiana will be going to open primaries soon, and I am not looking forward to it, due to all the hi-jinks that will happen. Sigh.

and it was painful to see that poor thing struggle with the simplest questions. It went beyond stage fright, I think. He's just not the brightest bulb in the marquee.

I think he's a plant. He's too obvious: black, pending felony charge, slow, and has absolutely no clue what a campaign might consist of from printing a sign to carrying it.

All that remains is for someone with access to the inner workings of the guy's finances (gawd help us all) to find out who put him up to it.

It's got DeMint's stink all over it. The questions are: who paid him, who paid the filing fee, and who organized the GOTV--churches or the Klan?

The more I think about this the worse it stinks. The whole primary should be thrown out but won't unless the FEC steps in, and that's as likely as the Pope on a pogo stick, too many Bush appointees.
