The Gulf of Mexico has about 7,000 active leases, 64% are in deep water.
That little factoid courtesy of Dept. of Interior, I am listening to re-play of the Oil hearings which happened this am.

3. You may want to listen to the hearing to find out.
I was interrupted and will have to listen to it later.
Dept. of Interior web page and even Google may be able to help with the info, also.
