The religious right vs Comedy Central
A new organisation has been formed by the US religious right to attack a programme that hasn't yet reached pilot stage. JC, a Comedy Central cartoon about Jesus trying to live a normal life in New York, does not have a completed script, but Citizens Against Religious Bigotry (Carb) are calling on advertisers to force the channel to abort it.

Carb, starchier than your average lobbyists, are particularly exercised by the contrast with the way Comedy Central backed down on airing scenes involving Muhammad in South Park, fearing violence. "Does that indicate that Christians then are punished because they aren't crazy?" asked the talk show host and Carb Michael Medved.

So censorship goes pre-emptive, a TV show doesn't even have to be made in order to offend, and the duty to protect the unborn has no relevance to works of creativity. I suppose it's not so big a leap as all that to banning things that don't exist yet for those who devote their careers to banning things they haven't seen.

14. Christian fundis love being victims, then they can justify their so-called persecution.
Fundamentalist Christians are a bunch of organized insane people, but I'm not being judgmental. I'm just stating fact.

2. Only THEY are allowed to project who Jesus was
Anyone else who has a slightly different take is wrong. WRONG.

Their entire reality revolves around that projection.

3. good strategy on their part
Now, if this show never airs for any one of the pile of reasons shows at this stage don't make it, they can claim victory.

7. Well - Comedy Central would have a better leg to stand on
If they didn't show themselves to be utter cowards when it came to even showing Mohammad in that South Park episode.

It's pretty obvious that they're doing the Jesus thing just so they can rack up just this kind of publicity and show how wacky they are.

But, when it really comes down to being edgy, they're gutless...

9. Look this is a Comedy Channel, not a lets take on one of the worlds major religions channel.
The followers of Mohammad (some of them) are a little crazy about this
showing their guy thing. Crazy enough to declare open season on folks
they feel have wronged them. I don't think they are utter cowards (IF
you want to display Mohammad, go ahead and do it yourself) but rather a
business with a lot of different programs & advertisers that they have
to answer to. They are what they are.

12. I agree
They seem to only make fun of the terrorists. I just don't understand people like this though --> http://ashadu.blogspot.com/2008/06/saying-goodbye-to-family-guy-asalaam.html I watched that episode and it makes absolutely no mention of Allah but she twists it to where her fanatical views makes it wrong..sad
