My thoughts on how the BP damages money should be dispersed.
I live on the Gulf Coast. I have friends who are charter boat captains, business owners, or support tourist industries. All have applied now for lost earnings.

IMHO, BP should NOT be in charge of handing the money out. The government should tell BP to take that $10 Billion dollar dividend payment, put it into an account, and the government will begin deciding who and how much each person gets. If the account gets empty, BP has to fill it up again.

BP should have NO say in what the amounts are or who gets it.

If I was Obama, that's what I'd do.

3. That dividend payment
is a distibution of past profit which has yet to be agreed and won't be until July earliest. If what you suggest was actually done it would still need to be audited to prevent misuse.

Given that If you were Obama, that's what you'd do , have you written to tell him so yet ?

4. Past profit is just that, past.
It's available right now. As for auditing it, fine.

No, I haven't written Obama. Based on how deferential the government is to BP concerns so far, I have no hope.
