Gulf Cleanup Idea --Take the beaches to the spill.
Edited on Tue Jun-08-10 12:25 PM by flamingpie2500
Why not sand? I have been running this idea through my head and asking why not try it?

I watch the videos everyday involving cleanup and notice that sand seems to coagulate and contain the oil--they just scoop it up off the beach.
Is it possible to pour sand, using planes, ships, one small plastic pail at a time on TOP of the oil and sink it back down to the depths it belongs?

It is natures purifier after all.

Just a thought.

3. That just puts the oil on ocean floor.
Doesn't really get rid of it.

5. No skimmed and put in a tanker is better place.
Can do that from ocean surface.
Can't do that from ocean floor.

One is a permanent solution.
The other simply hides the problem.

Then you have to consider the labor. To sprinkle sand on the oil you need to be next to the oil. Likely in a boat right? If you have a boat and you are next to the oil wouldn't it just make more sense to skim the oil and transfer it to tanker than hiding it on bottom of the ocean?
