The EPIC FAILURES of DEREGULATION are on full display. Deregs are a disaster waiting to happen.
Oil disasters.

Climate change.

Mining industry deaths.

Banking system in a state of collapse.

Off-shoring taxable income.

Death of the middle class.

Corporate behemoths swallowing up mom-and-pop everything.

Factory farms.

Poisoning/Rape of our environment.

.....................................................

Deregulation kills.

Imagine if Tim Kaine pulled his head out of his ass and made this a nationwide campaign theme.

Smart Democratic candidates will run on pointing out the horrible consequences of deregulation.

Deregulation or absence of enforcing existing regs caused..

The gulf oil spill.

America's banking collapse.

Miner deaths and lax workplace safety enforcement....

....................................................

Deregulation is a disaster waiting to happen.

Democrats could win on that theme in today's changing political environment.

People are waking the fuck up.

When will the Democratic Party do the same?

Edited on Tue Jun-08-10 10:21 AM by kestrel91316
existing regulations, even those completely unenforced, are why all those disasters happened. The solution is to completely end all government regulation of business, period.

:sarcasm:

Had to add this ^^^ because otherwise some idiot will think I am serious and light into me.

To the top 1%, it's a checklist of ways to protect their asses over the next century.

6. The recent Bilderberg gathering in Spain was an orgy of cash and powermongering..
In other words, those who love deregulation. Powerful enough to dictate deregulatory policymaking.

Worldwide. Fuck every one of them.

8. Deregulation is the epic failure of regulation.

It will happen every time, capital will not be constrained, not for long, there's money to be made. Capital holds all the cards in our present society, how could it be otherwise?

19. I did. I feel bad for forgetting to add education.
Which is being deregulated as secretly as possible by Duncan and group. Obama's stance on public ed is nauseating.

Charter schools cut corners to increase profits. Cheapening the quality of education that those kids receive. Poor education can haunt a person for a lifetime and is a proven poverty-enabler.

My only hope is that we can move the political compass of Washington slightly left in the 2010 midterm. I'm donating and volunteering for 2 local Dems. I'm also making several small donations through Actblue to progressive Dem candidates. If they don't put a premium on public education as a candidate, they won't get my money.

I call reps and sens. State and Fed. I beg them to oppose de-funding and privatization of public ed.

I've seen everyone around me benefit from public education. Just teaching literacy alone, can set a person free.

Math, History, Science, Physical Ed(big public health improver) all equally important.

Our public education system made America strong. Notice how as PE falls, so does America?

13. Agreed. We need that narrative told.
Government has to set and enforce the rules. That is its main purpose. There need to be laws. There isn't anything difficult to get about that.

The Giant Invisible Hand magically reaches down from above and "corrects" markets.

We have no need of regulation.

We have the Giant Invisible Hand.

And people say the Democrats are "anti-religion". LOL
"Free Markets" IS a religion which demands absolute fealty to an invisible deity.

Anytime you hear a "Democrat" hyping "Free Markets" or "Free Trade", KNOW that that person is an ENEMY to Americans who Work for a Living.

25. Mad Cow. E-coli. Salmonella. Listeria. Cadmium. Lead. Melamine. Hormones. Antibiotics.
What kills me is that we don't check the poisonous stuff coming IN, so the kids are chomping on cadmium jewelry and the pets are dying from melamine pet food and our IN country stuff is so unregulated other countries don't want us to export to them.

How many Americans are even aware that other countries say thanks but no thanks to many of our food products?

28. Amen. Most democratic leaders seem like gutless cowards and cower to those on the right.
They don't even realize if they woke up and began to speak out against the obvious they could win and win big in the Fall. They have the brains to get elected, but then they go into comas unable to even articulate what every other American can. Is it because they are stupid, or is it because they have sold us out?

I would like to see leaders emerge and begin to tell it like it is without using all of the typical measured responses you usually hear from our representatives.

How in the hell can we even attempt to undo the damages of the last regime if our leaders keep giving into those on the right?

Due to an un-regulated capitalist system with no rules, the same way I grew up hearing about the fall of the Soviet Union due to un-checked authoritarianism.
