where he can continue to spew racism 7 days a week on cable, in print and on radio

and let's remember that Thomas did apologize. Which is something O'Reilly, Beck, Limbaugh and Savage never do. Hell, they usually won't even admit to what they said in the first place.

Yeah, no double standards in our wonderful, fair lib'rul media.

Meanwhile Beck is off promoting a actual Nazi sympathizer.

"This morning on his radio program, Glenn Beck responded to the general outcry over his approving comments last week for the work of Elizabeth Dilling, a virulent anti-Semite who actively supported Hitler and the Nazis during World War II. Beck's response contained neither an apology nor a disavowal nor any indication whatsoever that he was at all contrite over using his considerable media presence to promote a discredited and hateful woman's writings."

I'm sure Ari Fleischer and his buddies at FOX who went after Thomas will be just as adamant that Beck be fired.

1. the difference is
Thomas criticized right wing Israeli policy, while Buchanan only criticizes Jews. One is unforgivable, while the other is.

11. She should have gone and murdered a few peace activists. No embarressed US administration then!
But instead she had to go and commit the much worse crime of making a stupid and ugly comment that was at best insensitive and at worst bigoted. And worse of all, she apologised for it almost immediately! I'm so glad in the US they've got their priorities right and realise someone making a comment like that is far more appalling than the killing of a bunch of innocent people in international waters! ;)

17. This is the real distinction, yes
All the outrage threads trying to figure out what the difference between the two seem to be having some difficulty understanding that Buchanan's handlers like open bigotry.

18. !

DUers have sent dozens emails of complaint to msnbc over unka pat through the years, and he's still there. We've heard about other employees being in hot water at msnbc over things they've said or done, but we've never heard a peep about unka pat being called on the carpet by msnbc top brass for any of the racist/sexist/bigoted things he's spewed. I've concluded that msnbc agrees with him.

5. Unfortunately Helen used a very broad brush in her statement.
I despise Buchanan and his selfish arrogance about almost everything, but he's either smart enough, or dumb enough not to broad brush an entire population. I think we all know he hates Jews too, but he never comes out and flatly says it. Helen never pulled any punsches, with her questions or statements, but this time she really did overstep.

I was too young to remember exactly what happened in Germany, Poland etc. that caused the Jews to flee. I know there was a decidion made that they get a part of Palestine as their own, and were supposed to be left alone to live there. The problem I think is that people are just really sick & tired of people not getting along. I kep hearing that the Palestinian & the Israeli people both want peace & are tired of constant fighting & wars. What the hell can be done to get the leaders of both countries to want that too? BIBI sis NOT a peacemaker by any streatch! And Hamas deems to be just as bad. I'm notangry with the people of either country. I'm angry & disguste with their warmongering leadership!

9. "Too many Jews" isn't broad brushing?
Well, I guess for some people, rushing to Buchanan's defense is acceptable so long as they're trying to make an Arab woman look worse than him, huh?

12. Are you talking about the Pat Buchanan who said this?
America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships, grew into a community of 40 million, were introduced to Christian salvation, and reached the greatest levels of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known.
