Flush is a victim of gay marriage. He wouldn't be on his fourth wife if it weren't for the gays. The gays have so degraded the institution that he now has no choice but to partake and contribute to its degradation. Or, perhaps this is his way of satirizing the whole thing; you know, he has that uncanny knack to appear serious but when he is exposed for his hypocrisy he claims satire. So this whole thing is to show just how damaging the gays are.
