My wife got a letter from Pelosi asking for money. She said she had
worked very hard to get the healthcare bill through and had done a good job with other bills in the House.... My wife emailed her back, and told her that we EXPECT those we elect to work hard and to do a good job and that Pelosi should not expect a pat on the back for earning her pay and perks.

I love this - Congress got paid a ton of money by the insurance / medical / drug interests and passed a watered down half assed collection of "reforms" that won't go into effect for years in many cases, and then they think we should be in awe of them. They are professional bullshit artists and for many of them the hardest thing they did was to stay sober long enough to vote.

They will get my thanks and congratulations when they actually deserve it, and guys, I would not hold your breath till that happens.....

2. Yeah!
Let's not give none of those Democratic fools any money.

Let's let them lose!

That'll show 'em!

6. That's a bad attitude.
Why should we reward bad behavior? They caved in to the corporate interests, and sacrificed you, me, and the rest of the American people by doing so.

This excuse that "any Democrat is better than a Republican" is getting old. If we never set the standards higher, we'll never see any of that change we were promised.

9. Except Pelosi was not one of the "Bad Ones" on health care
She fought hard to get the Public Option through in the House Version of the bill.

15. She also took impeachment off the table, without doing an investigation!
Torture.

Lying.

Spying.

Outing covert CIA agents for political reasons.

Starting wars to pump money into his cronies' businesses.

What does it take?

Oh, yeah...a blow job and only Republicans can start impeachment proceedings, apparently. :eyes:

Pelosi is not without issue. Not by far, although she's much better than Reid, which really isn't much of a compliment.

16. Much better to keep repeating the cycle.

I'm tired of continually giving money, time, and votes to people who don't care enough to follow through on campaign promises.

Instead of you asking how I would like McCain to be President, how 'bout you tell me what to do about conserva-dems? Do you think we should keep helping them get elected, no matter how they do their jobs?

Edit to add: I'm not necessarily calling Pelosi a conserva-dem, although I do have issues with her, too.

4. Major, major judos to your wife for that response!
Tell her she has an admirer from Maryland for that classic response.

Besides, there's nothing in that health care plan I like at all - I wanted a REAL plan, not a Republican mess that enriches insurance companies or fines us for not doing so and expands the IRS by over ten thousand agents to ensure compliance. Fixing Medicare and making everyone eligible would have been a lot better than a 1000+ page monstorsity that hardly anyone who voted on it actually read.

If I lived in her district, she'd have forfeited any right to expect financial support from me for her "You have to pass it to find out what's in it." She earned a lot of contempt from me for saying that as a representative of our supposedly transparent government. Sorry, Nancy, no soup for you.

5. Oh yeah who wants to keep a person who
is closer to our views, who has gotten some stuff through that makes things better? We want everything exactly our way or nothing and if the votes aren't there enough to pass what we want then let's just stay with the crap we got so we can gripe and feel sorry for ourself. What a bunch of crap.

12. The problem is they will just get it elsewhere (corporations)
We are in a lose-lose situation on this, if we give them $$$ (which we don't have) then we feel betrayed, and if we don't, then we have to live with knowing that the corporations will do it anyway.

This system is just so wrong.

13. I sent mine back with a
note to remove my name from the mailing list. Nancy was asking for funds for the DCCC.

I'm not giving DCCC any money and I don't want the trees wasted. I did use my own stamp so they didn't have to pay postage. But if they send me more letters, I will stuff them with lots of heavy paper and tell them this is the 2nd time I've asked to be removed.

I only give to those candidates that I like.

17. You and your wife are so smart
NOT!!!!

If Pelosi and Reid and the Democrats are defeated, we will have nothing but investigations of the White House and people associated with progressive ideas.

But then it was California voters who refused to vote for Pat Brown that gave us Reagan as governor and then President.

Never forget that people like you are responsible for the dismantling of FDR's progressive programs!

credit for simply doing what she is paid to do.

You are a very understanding person.

NOT.

But they're being paid much more not to do so.

We need Campaign REFORM. All this money begging is just setting up more adverse incentives.
