Riley: future of drilling is tied to Gulf oil spill

MONTGOMERY | Gov. Bob Riley said Thursday that the future of offshore oil drilling will depend in large part on how well the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is contained.

Riley has been a proponent of offshore oil drilling, but he said its future will depend on how the month-old oil spew is stopped.

“It’s my opinion, and I think the opinion of the country is, it’s going to be very dependent on how well we handle this,” he said Thursday. “We’ve got to be able to stop the gusher.

“If we can’t and prove we can’t handle it, I think everyone will have second thoughts.”

2. We need to hang the words of the drill, baby, drillers around their necks like a millstone.
This fall there should be tv ads of Palin spouting that run all the time.

3. K&R Riley is one of the reasons I moved from AL to MA...
Other reasons include differences in the ways the two states treat veterans.
