Another "malfunctioning" slot machine?!
http://www.kdvr.com/news/kdvr-gaming-malfunction-txt,0,3456364.story

CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. - MaryAnn and Jim McMahon thought their money troubles were over when they hit an $11 million jackpot at a Cripple Creek casino Tuesday. It turns out they were wrong.

The Wildwood Casino blamed a slot machine malfunction for the $11 million jackpot.

What a scam. Casino's need to pay up then file a business insurance claim, or go after the machine manufacturer and their insurance underwriter. I'm not a gambler, but if I was I would never put another cent in a slot machine! As if the odds against winning aren't bad enough; now when you win you STILL lose.

3. Big payouts
are only allowed to the well-connected... any breaks the little guy might get, even by longshot chance, must be ruthlessly exterminated. This is the new American Way.

4. This needs to go to court. What's the point of playing if they can take winning away at will?

6. Every slot machine that I've ever seen
has a sign that reads "malfunction voids all pays." So they do alert the customer to the possibility that their jackpot could be voided. However, I do sympathize with these people -- that's got to be one of the worst things that ever happened to them, and no amount of casino credit or free rooms will make up for it.

7. My stated opinion on this has always been that the casino
should be paying out the maximum amount on the machine's rules plaque, plus comping their room and food for the trouble. The payout would be theirs anyway, the comping is for goodwill purposes.
