Award for Paul, Applause for Obama

Close Sir Paul McCartney took away the prize Wednesday night in a glitzy White House ceremony, but it was President Barack Obama who got applause from the pop music stars who performed.

After receiving the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from Obama, McCartney said: "Getting this prize would just be good enough, but getting it from THIS president ..." as other guesats cheered. Each performer in turn echoed his sentiments.

Foo Fighters frontman and former Washington resident Dave Grohl said: to McCartney: "You're definitely my hero. And Mr. President, you're definitely my other hero," before playing "Band on the Run." Grohl was one of several artists, including Elvis Costello, Faith Hill and the Jonas Brothers, who performed McCartney's songs for the first family and their guests in the East Room ceremony.

McCartney himself performed a spirited rendition of the Beatles' hit "Michelle," saying, "I hope the president will forgive me," and later joking he'd be "the first guy ever to be punched out by a president.

1. he's getting hammered this morning on the news, for even having fun! I can't stand this.

This event was scheduled months ago, probably. But they think he should not be smiling and clapping and singing.. They want a President who should have taken McCartney down to the Gulf!

They want a President who EMOTES more, who shows more feeling, what the heck........all these white people EMOTING anger and feeling, but they don't understand that AN ANGRY BLACK MAN in the WH is the last person people want to see!

just sayin'.

2. Yet they said jackshit about the Idiot King making "missing" WMDs the butt of a joke
It still pisses me off to remember the picture of that dunce looking for WMDs under a couch in the White House and all those media lackeys laughing it up in the audience.

3. Yet half the Internet is a-twitter with anti-Jonas Bros. outrage
You'd think that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_Blue">Lamb and Lynx Gaede had performed Abbey Road Ueber Alles.

There are some things I will never understand -- like how a music group can arouse more outrage than, say, an ecological disaster or an international military incident.
