Jan Brewer response to statement about her Dad
STATEMENT BY GOVERNOR JAN BREWER

Regarding Her Father, Wilford Drinkwine

“My father, Wilford Drinkwine, moved our family before I was born from Minnesota to Nevada to work at the Hawthorne Ammunition Depot in Western Nevada at the outset of World War II. He passed away when I was 11 years old. His death came after a long and painful battle with lung disease, contracted following years of exposure to hazardous chemicals and toxic fumes while working as a civil servant at the base.

“I loved my father and was proud to hear him tell me that he was doing his part to help fight the Nazis in Germany. It’s a similar story that I have heard from countless people from my parent’s generation -- from women who worked in the factories to other family friends I met growing up near the depot. My father and mother instilled in me an understanding that many of those defenders of freedom who lost their lives in World War II never set foot on the battlefield.

“Even in the end, when my dad struggled for breath, he never regretted serving his country, helping free Europe from Hitler’s grip. I have proudly recounted his story in many places for many years. My father’s patriotism and sacrifice needs no embellishment.”

1. So this is her non-response to claiming her father died killing Nazis?
You'd think she'd be able to do better. You know, claim she misspoke or that her website administrator screwed up or something.

She's a sad case.

So why, Ms. Brewer, did you embelish it?

7. He was a stateside civilian-- he did not serve
By her definition, every American who sacrificed their sugar and gasoline allotment for the month or bought a savings bond "served to fight the Nazis"

What a despicable woman.

15. No joke.
How bizarre to equate stateside civilian employment with fighting the Nazis. I guess that my Rosie-the-Riveter grandmother fought the Nazis too!

10. I do not care.
I don't care if he was a civilian.

I don't care if he was a soldier.

I don't care if he was a patriot.

I don't care if he was a scoundrel.

Gov. Brewer cannot claim credit for the actions and deeds of her father - whether they be good deeds or bad deeds.

It has nothing to do with her, so she can shut up about it already.

11. here is my questions
I have invited Gov. Brewer on my show but so far she has refused. Here are the questions I would like to ask on this issue:

Why didn't your dad just go into the military? I know he was born in 1907 but my adoptive father was born in 1908 a year later and he was drafted, so your dad might have been able to volunteer and serve?

Isn't it feasible to think maybe you thought this twist would "shame" anyone who calls you a Nazi by how insulting it is on a personal level, such as with me, my biological father was twice a gunner in planes that got shot down by the Germans and he suffered from what we call PTSD today, so such a statement toward me would be insulting because of my dad's wounds and alteration of his life?

ask her to tell her dad's war stories.

18. after some research
I see in one account that she refers to her family moving to Hawthorn Nv. at the outset of WW2 and her dad took a job at a munitions depot where he stayed until 1954 and moved to Hollywood Ca. for health reasons. She claims to be born in Hollywood Ca. not Hawthorn Nv. so I have to wonder how close Hawthorn is to L.A. Ca. and did her family actually go from Mn. to Hollywood for some other reason and then he got the job in Hawthorn.

21. Sure it was inflated just look
she said he left Minnesota at the outset of the war, which would have been in 42 and went to Hawthorn Nv. The problem is he appears to have gone to work that in 44 so the story seems to leave 2 years out. Remember she was born in Hollywood Ca. and the first 10 years she lived in Hawthorn which leads me to think they were in Hollywood until 44 and since her dad went to Hollywood in 54 when so sick, I would think there must of been family or some close family friend there. It would appear he was unemployed just before the war and moved west to Hollywood looking for work and when the Hawthorn Ammo Depot was expended around 43 it opened up a job for Drinkwine in 44, but before that he was most likely unemployed or doing jobs that didn't have the income needed for the family. That alone is a question mark about her statement and of course it gets even more flakey after that.
