Lawyers say White House chief of staff Emanuel subpoenaed to testify in Blagojevich trial

CHICAGO (Associated Press) --
Attorneys close to the case say that lawyers for Rod Blagojevich have subpoenaed White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel as a witness at the former Illinois governor's corruption trial.

The trial is due to get under way Thursday. Blagojevich is accused of trying to sell President Barack Obama's former Senate seat. He has pleaded not guilty.

The attorneys spoke on condition of anonymity, saying the subpoena was not public. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

The indictment says Blagojevich ordered an associate to pressure Emanuel, then a congressman, to have his brother raise campaign funds and threatened to withhold

2. Many months ago many would have considered it important that a COS to a president was subpoenaed
about anything. Agree or disagree, it would have been considered important. Why is it no longer news?
