Admiral Mary Landry is off the job
Edited on Tue Jun-01-10 11:05 AM by thewiseguy
Just saw it on CNBC.

Good move by the Obama admin. The guy was truly a Baghdad Bob.

For those who do not know, Admiral Allen is the commandment of the Coast Guard and claimed for two straight days that the Top Kill had stopped the flow of oil! :)

----------------

Edit: It seems like Admiral Mary Landry who is the federal on scene coordinator has been removed from the job. Thad Allen is still there.

God damn it! :-(

1. He was horrible...

I recall towards the beginning he was making excuses for BP.

He is retiring in a month or so anyhow and had already been replaced as the head of the CG.

12. He acted like he started working for BP one month ago.
He certainly wasn't working for the US citizens on the Gulf Coast.

17. Our entire government works for Capital.

This horrible example is a microsism of the government/capital relationship writ stark.

The only way to correct this is to kill capitalism, as long as Capital has the muscle it will control it's environment by any means necessary.

4. He should be court martialed.
Edited on Tue Jun-01-10 10:55 AM by FLPanhandle
All he did was read BP statements, cover for a private company, and restrict any independent assessment of BP "facts".

7. I was thinking that he should be replaced..
after watching his appearances. I was thinking he was hiding information from the President and that is why he gave the people who run the Parishes his direct number.

He probably was blocking for Cheney. If he hasn't been replaced he should.

Edited on Tue Jun-01-10 11:15 AM by O is 44
for the President to give those guys his direct phone number because I do believe Mr. Allan was not being forth coming to the President about issues. I caught his act when he came to the Press gaggle with Gibbs and he seemed to pro BP for my liking, I'm sure he has a nice job waiting for him in the private sector. Your Cheney guess is not too far fetch his Press Sec just got herself a cozy job as BP PR person, what a bunch of crooks.

Ps. Presidents should not have to take direct calls from people at the ground level if there are competent individuals in place, I heard the parish Pres. this am say a new command person is down there. Good!

Edit: how very disappointing this is not Mr. Allen, oh well my comments still stand he needs to leave.

20. I agree..
the only thing I can think of is him during the aftermath of Katrina wasn't he the one in charge of fixing the leevees. Still think he is shilling for Cheney,Bush and the rest of the oil barons.

I have been watching fox more often since Obama was elected and I have been seeing a lot of British people on from different areas commenting on everything the President does. They were really involved in the healthcare debate...

18. UPDATE:
NEW ORLEANS -- The Coast Guard is replacing the admiral who has been the federal on-scene coordinator since an oil rig exploded and millions of gallons of crude leaked into the Gulf.

The spill's unified command center said in a news release Tuesday that Rear Adm. Mary Landry will return to duties as commandant of the 8th Coast Guard District in New Orleans to focus on hurricane season preparations.

Her replacement is Rear Adm. James Watson, who joined Landry as deputy on-scene coordinator three days after the rig exploded April 20.

Coast Guard commandant Adm. Robert Papp says in a statement that Landry's relief had been planned since the start of the response

19. I saw Landry doing a presser with the BP guy this weekend.
She was smug and condescending towards the reporters. I'm glad she's going and I think they should replace Allen, too.

21. I saw it too
and she was a disaster. She was calling the BP guy by his first name and seemed too cozy with him. "Doug, why don't you answer this question", etc. Totally wrong person for the job and it is a good thing they replaced her as the face of the effort.
