After setback, BP vows to ‘redouble’ efforts

BP on Sunday said it will strengthen its efforts to stop the flow of oil and protect the coastline after the most recent attempt to stop the Gulf oil spill failed.

“If it wasn’t already so hot that I’m sweating, I would have caught on fire,” she hollers.

“They are going to redouble their efforts? Did they really say that? First off, double stoopid is still stoopid. Second off, are they telling us that they’ve only been giving it 50% up until now?”

“No, no, no,” she says, “the time to redouble and strengthen was 30 days ago. It’s too damn late to be talking redoubling now. It’s just insulting now.”

Juanita’s suggestion is that BP should shut down all its oil wells and fix this one well. “They can go back to drilling once they stop killing the Gulf Coast. If we made that the law, a heckuva lot more oil companies would take safety seriously.”

“And the next fool who tries to talk to me about the virtues of free enterprise is gonna be reminded — Free enterprise isn’t free, we pay for it with our damn lives.”

Stop all their drilling until this is fixed..... That might remind them of their bottom line.

1. I have a hard time thinking they were thinking in all ideas about wanting to stop the oil.

It is hard to imagine, but look at some of the other things people have done to hurt people over the years.

I posted this comment a few weeks ago, so posting it again, I only say that because in two years time, an entire airport island was built in one place.




Construction started in 1987. The sea wall was finished in 1989 (made of rocks and 48,000 tetrahedral concrete blocks). Three mountains were excavated for 21,000,000 m3 (27,000,000 cu yd) of landfill

Somebody out there knows how to dump enough land fill on that oil spill to stop it. Not sure if that is the cheapest way, or the most 'engineering' of options, but it seems that in a couple weeks, at the rate they built that airport, a half million cubic meters of fill, and 1000 of those huge blocks they used could be dumped on that oil spill and it is hard to believe that would not be enough weight to stop the leak.

And even when they drill a relief well, there will still be half the pressure at the current leak point.

Maybe they really thought the other methods would work, or maybe the obvious fix is beyond conception for them because of cost.

If they thought one of the 'attempts' they have tried would work, it sorta makes sense in thinking, but there is a way to stop such a thing.

Don't know but it could be stopped if someone wanted to.

I been thinking they might be being stupid about the problem. Although it is possible my comment is not feasible, If that is so then someone could say I was stupid, and I am stupid at times also, so not trying to insult.

But either way this comment seems fitting.
