Poll question: Are private schools a business?
I think private schools are a business because they exchange a service for money.

This poll was inspired by this thread.

2. Of course they are.
How would they be able to operate otherwise?

5. I think the best way to look at this is that it depends on the type of private school.
If it's a religious school I do not think the primary aim has to be financial gain.

I also think that if Democrats were in favor of school choice we could beat the Republicans a lot easier than we are doing now where we have to contend with all the religious nuts out there who see Democrats as adversaries. Many of the greatest progressives have been religious men and we need to enlist that energy instead of alienating it.

6. So do public schools - we pay them with our tax dollars to provide a service

7. private schools take $$ in at the bottom and send it to the parent business - taxes flow the other
way. Private schools are expected to show a profit.
