Sorry, I thought I was on a freeper board where they were attacking Rudy for giving women rights over her own body and supporting family planning. Sarcastic smile.

Why do Republican men and women have such a low opinion of women? It's a sick cultish type thing. Kind of like the invasion of the body snatchers where any woman wants to choose for her self is screeched at and turned into a GOP pod person or a Laura Bush Stepford person.

1. I think most of them long for the rigid sex roles
of the 1950s when there were few and mostly low paying jobs for women, when everybody knew his or her place and there was no social ambiguity. It's a mythical never never land where everybody had the same opinions and kids never did drugs or joined gangs. Everybody was white and Christian, too.

The part they all seem to miss is that wages for men were much higher in terms of purchasing power, high enough to allow women to raise their own kids full time.

They also miss how miserable it was for women who were trapped with an abuser, a drunk, or just a ne'er do well. There was really no way out for any of them since women's jobs wouldn't support their children. Plus, men abandoned the wife and kids for younger women just like they do now. All they had to do was cross state lines and they were free.

This was the glory day of patriarchy. Men always think women are weak, emotional creatures with the high voices of childhood so they must be children who are incapable of making decisions concerning their own bodies, their own lives, their own fates.

And that's why I live with a cat.

2. They want simpler times, I agree
But those times are gone. For both men and women. This attempt to control women's bodies is archaic.

The new Catholic pope has given steam to the movement as well as the evangelicals. They want women quiet, submissive, and vessels. Alito and Roberts are nothing but figureheads of this movement.

I live with a cat and dog for balance.

3. Why do progressive men (and women) ...
...have such a low opinion of women?

I've been really appalled by some of the posts and thread around here of late regarding women, choice, etc. Really sick, sad stuff.

:hi: Ericka!
