8. We expected any better from BP?
I had not realized that they were originally planning to show the shot. I just the government is insisting that BP continue the feed to them so outside experts can review what happens.

I am pessimistic about this working but I hope it does so the flow of oil will be shut off.

4. The odds of it working are not good. Never been tried 5000 feet below the surface
of the ocean.

6. There is a very real possibility this procedure can make the situation WORSE
If the line ruptures due to the high pressure used with the Top Kill, it can become a volcano under the ocean floor.

The situation will be very grave at that point.

People need to understand that there really isn't a clear solution for this problem, which makes me wonder why all those other deep well rigs aren't being thoroughly inspected right now.

7. Why aren't Independent, 3rd party...
vehicles there documenting the disaster? Why are we forced to rely on a feed from BP?

9. Not many companies/agencies have the equipment
And the more equipment in the way, the better chance of additional problems.

If the subs BP is using are like the ones used at Woods Hole, they have tethers back to surface ships. If the tethers get tangled, they are pretty much lost.

14. BP will not allow scientists in. They said so when asked.
They claim it 'won't help' stop the leak. As if we do not need to study this disaster! And as if a foreign oil company should be allowed to make this decision.

22. Good question. Plus, why do we only get one feed from an ROV when apparently they have a lot more
judging from the numbers of the ROV as seen on cam.

It's not serious. I'm getting sick.

10. President Obama could denounce this BP announcement and demand they keep the camera on.

He could do that.

Will he act presidential and do that?

11. He could demand it...
doesn't mean that BP will listen.
Or that they have to listen even.

12. I know. He could look like a weak president by making no demands on BP
Edited on Tue May-25-10 01:56 PM by Better Believe It
So do you think he should demand this or keep quiet in order to avoid any trouble with BP executives?

21. Honestly, I don't know which is worse...
1. Making demands that will just be ignored, making him look weak and ineffective; or
2. Remaining silent to avoid trouble, making him look weak and ineffective.

15. According to twitter, BP hasn't made the decision yet.
The matter of whether or not we can maintain a live feed during the 'top kill' procedure is under review and a decision has not been made.

18. I don't know what to believe, reporting stinks, BP stinks.
My bet is they kill the feed but maybe because they didn't want to deal with more public outrage they decided to say they haven't made that decision yet.

20. Bill Nelson is on CNN right now with Rick Sanchez pushing for BP to keep feed on
This is one issue that I Bill Nelson has been on the correct side of for years. He's anti-offshore drilling, pro-regulation and he is willing to fight for it.
