Schuette defends record on Great Lakes oil drilling

GOP attorney general candidate calls claims about his oil regulations stance a 'total lie'

Mark Hornbeck / Detroit News Lansing Bureau

Lansing -- The Michigan Democratic Party went on the attack today against potential Republican attorney general nominee Bill Schuette.

The party unveiled an Internet video saying the former state senator backs Great Lakes oil drilling that could lead to the same kind of disaster here that the drilling rig explosion has caused off the Louisiana coast.

The Schuette camp called the two-minute spot "a complete and total lie," adding he initially supported the most restrictive approach to Great Lakes drilling and ultimately voted in favor of a ban.

1. Is he related to Keith Schuette, longtime BFEE working thru Haley Barbour-Ed Rogers (Rove)
in recent years?

That would be interesting. Keith Schuette is one of those longtime BFEE operatives that stays under the radar.

3. Wait for a spill and then the hand wringers will be out in force blaming everyone but themselves
That +90 percent approval rating Bush once had really opened my eyes about this stuff.

I looked around at that time and realized that more than 9 of 10 people, most who look and act pretty normal, are in fact blithering idiots.

Scary thought.

And if you think back you and I were one of the very few here who were openly, sometimes pleading, with people not to listen to the idiot Bush about invading Afghanistan. To no avail.

And we still got some nuts who think that was a good idea. Jeebuz.
