If the oil rig belonged to another country, how long till we invaded?
Or if BP was a country how long would we let them try to stop the situation before we invaded?

1 week? 2 weeks? A month?

when I think of how long it took to start bomb Afghanistan, and then think how our Gov. continues to let BP act like they are trying to shut off the oil..and am more and more disquested as images of sea life, our eco system, people's lives are being destroyed.

So how long do you think it would have taken our country to "invade" and take care of the leak, maybe even calling in our "allies" to help to stop the leak, if BP was a country ?

1. Poor analogy.
Unless you think BP intentionally caused the leak and didn't just make the biggest fuck up in history.

2. Did we invade Mexico in 1979?

It took Mexican govt 9 months to stop the Ixtoc I spill and that was in shallow water.
Oil reached Texan shores before the leak was stopped. The state of TX even sued the Mexican government, they never paid a single cent in claims.

Pemex actually paid nothing in damages to anyone for the accident. They claimed Sovereign immunity (officially indicating that the oil company was one and the same with Mexican government and thus immune to litigation).

I don't recall the pan-american war of 1979 though. :)

3. Do you actually believe that BP doesn't want this blowout stopped?
What would make you think that?

And if you really care show some sacrifice and swear off oil and anything made with it - otherwise you are part of the problem.
