Bill Maher missed a great opportunity last night
John Fund's first remarks were that the Tea Baggers didn't support financial reform because they didn't rein in Fannie and Freddie, which "caused the financial crisis" (according to Fund. This has been a neocon storyline that has been debunked over and over again.)
In the wings was Noriel Roubini, who knows more about the sub-prime meltdown than almost anyone. Bill should have had him come out and refute what Fund said, instead he left it unchallenged.

BTW: The Tea Baggers don't support Financial reform because they are a wing of the Corporatist Republican Party (whether they know it or not)

1. I Thought The Same Thing
I was waiting for him to say something. Every once in a while he disappoints me--not often, though. Maybe I'll tweet him on it. :)

3. Maher finally DID something I've wanted to see for a long time
After Fund quoted some statistic, Maher said something like, Is that true or did you just pull that number out of your ass. And actually I'd been thinking the same thing because it was the third or fourth time Fund had done this - I think this is bullshit, I'm gonna write it down so I can check up on it later.

They do this all the time and it's maddening when the pundits just sit there and allow them to do it. And Maher is generally as guilty as anybody.

BTW, is there anybody you'd like to punch in the face more than John Fund?

7. Fund Is An Urepentant Liar & Shill
and woman beater. It wouldn't matter if you showed this shitstain facts, he'd still deny it and spew the talking points...Murdoch pays him good money to do that.

I think Mahrer did fine in letting this scumbag spew his crap and then not respond to the most blatant lies. The viewers of this show don't need a roadmap as to what is bullshit.

CSPIN just did a segment on "Solvency of Fannie & Freddie" with a hack from the AEI. Sure sounds like the meme is to take down these lenders as by offering low interest loans that's money out of the pockets of the big banksters.

8. I had to turn it off. Maher let Fund do a talkover.
The woman was yet another rightwing lib and indeed he had Roubini, who demonstrated Maher's utter ineptitude as an interviewer, backstage able to kneecap Fund.

Plus he let Fund get away with the utter bullshit that teabaggers shouldn't be called teabaggers despite the fact that they called themselves teabaggers until they figured out that this involved dangling testicles in one's face.

10. Yeah, but you missed Dyson putting Fund in his place later...
When Robert Bork came up (as a comparison to Rand Paul's racist POV). Maher said but Bork is a racist and asked if Fund agreed. Fund had an emphatic "NO!" to that question, the Dyson cut in and listed 3 things Bork believed in, and rolled his eyes, saying "Oh' but he's not a racist!" Then asked Find if he was serious. It was beautiful!
