Milford family doesn't believe Blumenthal's 2007 statement on Vietnam service was misleading
http://www.acorn-online.com/joomla15/thebridgeportnews/news/localnews/59396-piersons-dont-believe-blumenthals-statement-was-misleading.html

Beverley and Eric Pierson of Milford said they do not believe Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal implied that he had served in Vietnam when he spoke at a 2007 Memorial Day parade honoring their son.

The Piersons’ son, Marine Cpl. Jordan Pierson, died in Iraq in 2006 while in combat.

A New York Times article on May 21 cited comments made at the Milford parade, where Jordan Pierson was honored as a hero, as further proof that Blumenthal, a U.S. Senate candidate, might have misled people about his military service.

(snip)

“I’ve heard him say, ‘When we were in Vietnam,” Beverley said. “He was talking about how they didn’t honor people like we do today. He didn’t say, ‘I was in Vietnam.”

Eric Pierson estimates he’s seen Blumenthal at events twice a year since Jordan Pierson was killed in service. Eric said he never walked away thinking Blumenthal had fought in Vietnam.

Responding to Blumenthal’s statement published in the 2007 Milford Mirror article, Eric said, “If that’s the quote, it doesn’t state he was in Vietnam. He has talked about the Vietnam era.”

(end snip)

This is in response to the latest hit piece in the Times (I refuse to link to them anymore). The Times could have talked to the Piersons too. I guess that wasn't on the agenda they were given.
