Teacher Accused Of Making Racist Comments
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) ― An 8th grade teacher in the Folsom-Cordova Unified School District is under scrutiny for allegedly calling two students racist names.
Parents say an 8th grade teacher at Mitchell Middle School in Rancho Cordova called their children Mexican Protectors and one mother says her son was called a "wetback".
According to the Folsom Cordova School District, the issue stems from a political cartoon that was drawn by an 8th grade student in the unnamed teacher's class earlier this month.
The student drew an Arizona police officer standing the middle of the picture with an American citizen to his left, and a Mexican citizen to his right. The Mexican citizen is hiding behind a cactus. A line drawn from the police officer to the American reads, "Yeah, you're not the one I'm looking for."
A student who was offended by the cartoon pulled the drawing off the wall and was suspended.
