And the answer is "If Phoenix wants Colorado's water, piss on 'em"

Ooo! We want to play! We know where this is going! We'll take Pithy Populist Bumper Stickers for 500 Alex! And the answer is "If Phoenix wants Colorado's water, piss on 'em" Arizona's xenophobic racial profiling mandate came screaming back to the fore yesterday when an Arizona electric utility regulator suggested that Angelinos who want to boycott Arizona because of the new anto-immigrant law should turn off their lights, because a lot of southern California's electricity comes from Arizona.

Oh Yay. An interstate fight using resources as weapons.
This could be the food fights to end all food fights if people are stupid enough to do it.

Do you know where your power, water, etc. comes from?

2. As I said,
everybody better check and find out where their resources come from. Many states are interlocked in ways that people haven't paid attention to before.

It might surprise you to see how many states are involved in fights and lawsuits over water rights. It's not just a western problem.

If every state joins in to shut off water or something from another state because of a disagreement over laws passed in that state, then all bets are off. Arizona deserves a boycott. However, this is one precedent I wouldn't want to set.

3. I recommend people do two things:
1) Start learning to produce your own energy from wind and solar.

2) Collect rainwater.

I've been working on this for a few years now. The pond and garden in the back yard are going to be powered and watered solely by my own power and water. I'm not totally off the grid yet, but I'm getting there. :)
