So I bought a Mac mini tonight.
It's a gift for my Sweetie for her birthday.

Even though we are BOTH geeks, she wanted to use it for her music and huge photo collection. She realizes it isn't really for playing games or for her job, even so I though it was a better choice than a notebook since she has a Netbook and her Christmas present will be a killer gaming notebook.

Got the stainless full keyboard and the new wireless mouse. Got her the 2.53 C2 Duo with 4 GB ram and 320GB HD. Got plenty of big monitors around to hook it up to. It is a cutie.

Maybe we will both learn............

7. My second Mac
There is a 15" IMac in my closet I bought dead, rebuilt, and played with for a couple of months about a year ago. It's Ok but just generations slower than the new ones are.

This will also fit PERFECTLY hooked up to her 32" TeeVee if we get the wireless keyboard....

5. Sweet!
I hope she likes the wireless mouse.

I had the wireless keyboard and mouse for an iMac but got tired of changing batteries, more a problem with the keyboard than the mouse.

I've thought about doing this with a mini in my Prius, now that it's well past warrantee:

:P

8. That is why I liked it so much, SOOOOO tiny
it is a perfect mobile system, and running Windows 7 on it would be a hoot.

9. Pretty. The Mini is more powerful than you think. Unless she does heavy HD video editing...

...I can't imagine what kind of work couldn't be done with it. And I've played Warcraft on a much slower, older Mac. So gaming isn't out of the question.

If she ever needs an expansion, go here for a form matching upgrade:

They make Great stuff.

11. She is in very intense specialized corporate real estate
and they are exclusively Windows and they run dual Xeon workstations and monster multiple monitors with Nvidia Quadro video. Lots of 3D floorplans and blueprints.

12. Ah, I see. Intense 3D would surely outpace the little guy. nt

14. It has a 9400M (mobile) Nvidia card. Not good for a lot of intense work
On the Orb scale of video, it scores a 400 benchmark while an ATI 5770 @ $145 I just bought for my gaming system scores a 9200

18. I owned the original Mini.
Only reason I sold it was because I got a great deal on an iBook. That was back in the days of Panther -- OS 10.3.

19. I've got one just like it - great machine.
But I thought the new ones had two video ports. I got mine about a month before they announced that.
